Suicide can sometimes seem to be only way out for people in debt.  Life can be stressful and depressing for those in serious debt.  Things like pressure from creditors, falling behind with mortgage payments and utilities bills can push people to the very edge.  People can be so despondent that they forsake their loved ones and take their own life.  Have you known anyone who committed suicide because of debt?  Have you felt suicidal because of debt?  Please tell us about your experiences…

A friends uncle commited suicide as a result of his debts. What was really tragic was that he had debts of less than £10,000 and his son was in a position to help him but he was too ashamed to admit he wasn't coping. Charities like Debt  Doctors can really offer a lifeline in situations like this - if he had been able to access some sensible advice about his finances, maybe he would still be here today. Keep up the good work DDUK and keep spreading your message so that people know there are options for them out there. For any one considering ending your life because of money please listen to this advice: It is just money. Your family want you alive. Talk about it and don't let it destroy you.
