I have just been talking to a friend about the cost of School Uniforms and she told me that if you are on a low income there are a few avenues you can try to reduce the cost.

Apparently, some local authorities provide a grant to help pay for the cost of school uniforms. I have looked it up on DirectGov website (link below) and they provide a link so you can check if your local authority runs a scheme.

In addition, some schools run their own schemes to help with costs or run a second-hand uniform shop.  You have to go into your child’s school and ask if they have any scheme running as they won’t approach you -which is very tactful of them, but not much use if you don’t know to ask!

You are right Ruth,  this will go a long way in helping people on low incomes, and those on benefits too.....

however, I think parents have to do this privately and sometimes secretly? otherwise if other children do find out... the would make fun of the kids in question or rub it off on them...
You know how school children chat , they are flaunt how good or rich their family is.
Not knowing how much work their parents have put in.
